Summary This position is located at the CYS Child Development Center at the US Army Garrison Miami. This is a Regular Part-Time position with a minimum work week of 20 hours. Eligible for benefits and leave accrual. Eligible applicants must be available between the hours of 6:30am and 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities Skill in operating and cleaning a wide variety of food service equipment including special equipment for the preparation of large volume items. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, particularly, standard recipes and detailed cooking instructions. Knowledge of food borne illnesses, food safety, and proper storage methods for hot and cold food items in order to prevent loss and illness due to spoilage. Knowledge of proper cooking temperatures and preparation methods of a variety of foods. Basic knowledge of practical understanding of the physical process that occur in cooking. Ability to schedule and coordinate preparation of a number of different foods in order to ensure that they are ready for service at the appropriate mealtime. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications A minimum of 6 months of work experience directly related to the duties described above, that included skill in working with professional kitchen appliances and equipment. Be able to communicate (verbal and written) in English. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. on a routine basis. Highly Preferred Applicants with resumes reflecting current Army Child and Youth Services (CYS) experience will be considered Highly Preferred and may be sent first for consideration. PCS Costs Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Other: Additional referrals may be made from this vacancy announcement for up to 90 days after the closing date.
