Responsibilities Leads a staff of 3 or more NA-04 and NA-06 cooks in the preparation of a variety of menu items and receives instructions from manager or supervisor on duty and passes assignments down to individual members of the group being led. Assures that there is enough work to keep all employees on duty busy and checks work in progress and assures that all procedures are followed and that deadlines are met. Prepares a variety of foods and desserts according to menu requirements and follows recipes to prepare menu items. Roasts a variety of meats, grills, broils, steams, and deep fries foods; prepares vegetables and cold food platters and makes a variety of salads and sandwiches. Follows health and safety precautions to ensure safe preparation and storage of food items, monitors and maintains appropriate temperature of all food items throughout preparation and service. Operates kitchen equipment designed to mix and cook food items and assures that all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and available to employees. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications 1.Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision 2.Demonstrated work experience directly related to the duties to be performed. 3.Possess the ability to lead employees engaged in cooking duties. Allowances, Incentives, and PCS Costs: Allowances, differentials, or incentives WILL NOT be paid. Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are NOT authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is NOT in the Government's interest. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
