Cook - PRN Dining Services Team Member
Responsibilities Dining Services Team Member - PRN Cook Turning Point Care Center has an opening for a PRN Cook on our Dining Services Team. Our cooks are responsible for: Daily preparation and presentation of all Turning Point meals. Reviewing menus and dietary orders daily to ensure patients receive proper diets as ordered by Physicians and/or Dietitian. Assists supervisor in the handling and ordering of food inventory and supplies. Preparing meals in accordance with Turning Point's approved menus, policies, and procedures. Adhering to state and federal food service guidelines. Working as a member of the Dining Services Team to ensure a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing dining environment for both patients and staff. What does a typical day look like for a Turning Point cook? Our cooks work ten hour shifts. When cooks arrive at work, they review the day’s established menu, prepare the work area, cook the meals in large batches, and serve approximately 120 meals per mealtime. As part of our food and work safety practices, our cooks also monitor temperatures of the cooler, freezer, and dishwashers, record results, report any deviations from proper temperatures, and complete routine cleaning tasks including mopping and dishwashing. Our cooks prepare and serve three meals per day and have alternative options for special diets. PRN scheduled days will vary. The two shifts that cooks are scheduled to work are 6:30am to 5:30pm and 7:00am to 6:00pm. Qualifications Qualified applicants meet the following requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. (ServSafe certification is desirable.) Background checks and drug screens will be conducted as part of our routine hiring process. Experience with food preparation techniques preferred. Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform physical activities such as prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, and handling of materials. Must have effective communication skills. Must be able to read and comprehend labels, instructions, and manuals. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential job function; reliable transportation is required. The position works on a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served 7 days a week at our facilities.
