Assist in standardization of recipes to meet menu needs. Prevent waste and use leftovers in an innovative way. Assist in maintaining portion control of food served. Essential Duties: + Work closely with the Lead Cook to coordinate menus, plan breads and desserts. Estimate the quantities of food supplies needed for menu items. Assist in re-ordering stock to meet menu needs. + Prepare serving line trays of food in an attractive and appetizing manner. + Label, date and store left-over’s and ingredients used during and after food preparation. + Keep all ovens and cooking equipment clean and in good repairs and keep all cooking areas neat, clean and orderly. + Comply with all sanitary codes imposed by government agencies upon our facility. Take and record all food and fridge temperature daily. Qualification: + Obtain a professional Food Handler Certification within 90 days of employment. + For purposes of effective communication with residents, families and staff must be able to see, hear, speak, read and write English. + Maintain ability to stretch, push, pull, kneel, reach, twist, lift unassisted at least 35 lbs and walk or stand up to eight hours. + Preferably two years prior cook experience in a restaurant, hospital or extended care facility. Hourly Rate: + $14.00 - $18.20 Background Checks: A criminal history background check and sex offender registry check will be required for the finalist under consideration for this position.
