Cook Supervisor - Long Term Care (11a-7p)
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Evening Shift **Description:** Sanctuary of Holy Cross, a compassionate long-term care facility in South Bend, Indiana, is seeking a dedicated **Cook Supervisor** to oversee kitchen operations and ensure the preparation of nutritious and delicious meals for our residents. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service, experience in a healthcare or senior living setting, and a passion for providing high-quality meals in a caring environment. **Key Responsibilities** + **Food Preparation & Cooking** + Prepare and cook meals following standardized recipes, dietary requirements, and residents' preferences. + Ensure meals are nutritious, visually appealing, and served on time. + Adjust recipes for special diets, including low-sodium, pureed, and diabetic-friendly options. + **Supervision & Leadership** + Oversee kitchen staff, including cooks and dietary aides, ensuring efficiency and teamwork. + Train and mentor kitchen employees on food safety, preparation techniques, and portion control. + Assist in scheduling staff and ensuring adequate kitchen coverage. + **Compliance & Safety** + Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, including state and federal food service guidelines. + Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures are followed. + Monitor kitchen equipment and report any maintenance needs. + **Menu Planning & Inventory Management** + Assist in menu planning in collaboration with the Dietary Manager to meet residents’ nutritional needs. + Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies while minimizing waste. + Conduct routine checks on food quality and storage conditions. + **Resident & Staff Engagement** + Interact with residents to gather feedback and enhance dining experiences. + Work closely with nursing and dietary staff to accommodate special dietary needs. + Foster a positive dining atmosphere for residents, ensuring mealtimes are enjoyable. **Qualifications** + High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training preferred. + Minimum of 2 years of cooking experience, preferably in a healthcare, long-term care, or institutional setting. + Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a kitchen environment. + Knowledge of dietary restrictions, food safety regulations, and HACCP guidelines. + ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain). + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. + Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. + Compassionate and service-oriented mindset, dedicated to enhancing residents' quality of life. **What Perks and Benefits Can You Look Forward to?** + Paid holidays and generous Paid Time Off (PTO) + **Up to $4,000 in tuition reimbursement annually!** + Discounts with major vendors; AT&T, Verizon, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Quicken Loans, AND MORE! + Day 1 Benefits - Low cost medical, dental and vision insurance plans.
