Overview Perinatal Sonographer Coordinator Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift (Coordinator will also be Trainer) For more than 25 years, we’ve provided comprehensive high-risk pregnancy services and delivered over 26,000 high-risk babies at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. We offer a range of care services for higher-risk pregnancies, including mothers over age 35, multiples, complications, birth defects, issues such as diabetes or hypertension, or pregnancies after infertility. Position Summary: This position provides leadership assistance and department coordination to the Perinatal Sonography Manager. They are responsible for the training, distribution and performance of work among Sonographers along with multiple other functions. Performs physician-defined routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures as required by Perinatal Sonographer III. Provides support assistance/activities as needed. Performs all duties of Ultrasound Technologists when needed. If you have any questions please contact Recruiter: Sarah Grey ||sgrey1@covhlth.com|| 865-374-5271 Responsibilities + Responsible for management of Ultrasound staff and equipment at multiple satellite clinics. + Involved in interviewing and hiring decisions of Sonography staff. + Included in performance evaluation and corrective action processes for all Sonography staff. + As directed by the Manager and in the absence of the Manager, functions in both a technical and support capacity when needed as defined by workload, staffing and customer needs. + As directed by the Manager and in the absence of the Manager, implements and assesses individual/team performance appraisal and career ladder. + As directed by the Manager and in the absence of the Manager, assures daily operations are performed to include: staffing, interdisciplinary meetings, department statistics, payroll, charges and inventory. + As directed by the Manager and in the absence of the Manager, acts as a liaison to patients and other customers to provide timely and accurate communication and problem resolution. + As directed by the Manager and in the absence of the Manager, determines and coordinates daily staffing ratios bases on workload and staff. + Oversees the work of other personnel by training, allocating, and monitoring work as well as performing work of a similar nature. + Assists in establishing and administering policies and procedures, objectives, process improvement programs and safety standards. + Assist with Ultrasound Accreditation process, including gathering samples, paperwork and completing submission. + Responsible for ensuring that preventative maintenance is performed according to the established schedule. + Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness and type of test ordered; ensures quality images. + Maintains established radiation safety standards. + Obtains and documents pertinent clinical information and technical findings for review by physician for order clarification and follow-through. + Performs routine diagnostic imaging procedures through technical expertise of equipment and procedure protocol. + Assists in maintenance of supplies and imaging areas. + Maintains patient’s confidential records, reports and files. + Provides patients and families with procedure explanation and/or written documentation of procedure. + Proficient in required data entry, record maintenance and statistical data. + Responds appropriately and timely to patients, physicians and other customer’s needs. + Coordinates the smooth transition of patients throughout the hospital and other campus locations. + Proficient in patient assessment, monitoring and sterile technique as required. Provides assistance with clerical and transport needs. + Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops. + Demonstrates competent performance of critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the entire life span. + Technically proficient in the operation and quality control aspects of scanning and image recording equipment specific to the assigned work area. + Displays independent work skills by capably taking physician orders to completion to include correct patient transport, required clerical skills, physician defined scanning parameters, acquisition, filming and physician interpretation. + Correct drug procedure and supply charging, stock maintenance and vendor ordering procedure. + Efficient coordination of daily work distribution and patient flow. + Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. Minimum Experience: Clinical training appropriate to the specified modality. Licensure Requirements: Clinical training appropriate to the specified modality and must meet one (1) of the following: + ARDMS registered in two modalities; OR + ARDMS registered in a single modality plus a minimum of 3 years clinical ultrasound experience.
