The opportunity

The Role:

The Health and Safety Coordinator provides administrative support to the Yarns Division’s 6 manufacturing plants across North Carolina.  This role reports to the Sr. Manager, Health and Safety.  Duties include,

Maintain health and safety recordkeeping for Gildan’s Yarns division, Develop and maintain health & safety scorecards, and prepare and manage health and safety communications across all manufacturing sitesCoordinate with plant management and training staff on critical skills and required trainingProvide in-person training at plant locations in areas such as lockout-tagout, ARC flash, bloodborne pathogens, hazard communication, hearing conservation, confined space, and other safety-related topicsAssist in or lead internal investigations following a health and safety issueSupport and participate in internal audits, compliance assessment, and inspections to support health and safety programs for employees, contractors, and visitorsSupport ISO-45001 initiative, certification, and complianceSupport implementation and optimization of all US health and safety programs

The Requirements:

Associate or BS degree preferred3+ years of direct health and safety experience preferredDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, 5 Why, Ishikawa, Fishbone or other investigative techniques is preferredAbility to use in-house and online systems to extract and assimilate informationAbility to work in a team-based environmentAbility to demonstrate flexibility in work prioritiesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality of dataThis job requires 40% day travel and occasional overnight travel. Dependable transportation is requiredAbility to walk, stand, climb, stoop, squat, maintain balance, and lift up to twenty-five pounds in a manufacturing environment is required
