Coordinator, Payroll

Your role as a Coordinator, Payroll: You will assist with all payroll duties which include, but is not limited to, reviewing new hire data and timekeeping processes for both Baseball and Non-Baseball employees. You must be organized, have a strong attention to detail and must be able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in an efficient manner. You will be a team player with excellent interpersonal and technical skills. All the responsibilities we will trust you with: * Exemplifying our Petco Park Promise: CARE, CONNECT, EXCEED by proactively welcoming all guests to the ballpark and consistently striving to exceed all guest expectations Works closely with People and Culture (HR) Department to ensure all new hire, transfer and term paperwork is processed timely and accurately in ADP Workforce Now and ABIMM timekeeping systems * Assists with processing Front Office, 40-Man Roster, Minor League Player, International and Union payrolls under the supervision of the Payroll Manager * Coordinates all daily timekeeping processes with various departments and follows up on any missing data prior to importing hours from ABIMM into ADP * Processes termination workflows and manual checks requested on an as-needed basis from completed personnel action forms * Assists Accounting department with check & direct deposit reports for all payroll groups * Prepares, reviews, and inputs payroll journal entries into Microsoft GP Accounting Software. Reconciles all general ledger accounts relating to payroll for the accounting department and corrects discrepancies as they arise * Prepares and updates salary reconciliation Excel spreadsheets for various departments and wage-related general ledger accounts monthly * Experience of knowing how to troubleshoot mapping issues and referencing supporting documents to resolve, e.g., payroll registers, email communication, internal files received * Assists with year-end financial audit of all payroll accounts * Updates states and local tax withholdings * Assures that information is timely and accurately transmitted to Fidelity and Vanguard for 401(k) contributions on an individual payroll basis * Collaborate with Payroll Manager on annual 401k audit, including preparation of all schedules needed by auditors * Maintains calendar indicating scheduled pay dates and any applicable payroll events such as pay increases dates * Receives and processes child support deductions and garnishments * Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates * Develops a strong understanding of the company’s benefits program, including but not limited to medical, dental, voluntary benefits, 401(k) and PTO * Runs various reports from ADP and ABIMM systems * Serves as backup for transmission of 401(k) files * Represents the Club in a positive and professional manner at all times * Other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most: * Expertise navigating payroll systems with proven ability to run specialized reports as needed * Proficient computer skills include experience with MS Office products such as Word and Outlook, and intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including experience with VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Functions, etc. * Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effectively work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner * Exceptional time management and organizational skills with capacity to handle high volumes of detailed work, multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines * Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability * Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance You will be required to meet the following: * Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment * AA degree or 4-year B.A. preferred, or equivalent work experience * 3 years of previous payroll experience in a multi-state environment, plus 2 years of accounting training or experience necessary * Minimum 2 years of understanding of accounting principles/or experience * Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds * As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre- employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check Salary and additional compensation: Per the California pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00 per hour. As a candidate for this position, your pay and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
