Coordinator, Project Controls

The Project Control Coordinator will proactively assist project management in monitoring projects to ensure they are completed successfully, on budget, on the scope, and on time.  This position, reporting to finance, sees compliance with company policy, quality requirements, and financial standards; Serves as project accounting system administrator and leads process improvement initiatives. These projects by nature of their complexity and difficulty, as well as contractual considerations, require competent knowledge of project controls and project management methodologies. 

What You Will Do:                                                                                                                                                                              

Work directly with the Project Manager, Project team, and other departmental members to identify and/or resolve general project administration problems.  Analyze, alert, and assist as necessary as it relates to project control issues; ensure compliance to contract requirements, internal policies, and quality standards. Assist Project staff in maintaining and adhering to ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management System. Apply proper USGAAP revenue and cost recognition standards and understand the relationship between project transactions and the financial statement impacts. Monitor the health of projects throughout the lifecycle. Perform ongoing project profitability analysis, monthly revenue/cost accruals as needed, and Revenue flash reporting. Perform monthly WIP (revenue vs billing) reconciliation at the project closure. Support external and internal audit processes while monitoring for billing anomalies. Perform control review on project setup, revision, and closeout forms to verify accuracy, completeness, and approval of supporting files in accordance with DOA. Set up, modify, and close projects in ERP. Perform project accounting administration duties including but not limited to open/close accounting periods, new business unit setup, employee/contractor timekeeping configurations, bill rate and utilization updates. Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of education.  Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project and Cost Control in a similar professional service/engineering service company.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Solid knowledge of project schedule management. High level of conceptual and analytical skills with a strong problem-solving orientation, with a flexible and dynamic approach. Accurate, flexible, and reliable, with a clear and constant focus on process improvement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good planning and organizing skills. Knowledge across a broad field of finance and control disciplines (project management, accounting, reporting, finance, forecasting) is preferred. Fluent in English (written, spoken). Knowledge of Oracle R12 (medium level), Excel (medium/high level), Power-Bi (medium level) and other MS Office tools. Able to translate and report complex financial data into clear information for (internal) financial and non-financial stakeholders. Familiar with the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management System. 

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to a Manager, Director, or Executive level position

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily sedentary; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
