Overview Works with Cherokee Nation service departments, Cherokee Nation administration and local, regional and national media to protect, promote and preserve the positive image of the Cherokee Nation and its citizens. Responds to social media inquiries, contributes to message development and collaborates on proactive social media strategy development and analytics. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, or related field; no substitutions. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT At least three (3) years of experience in a related field. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should know Database software, Design software, Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Proficient and up to date with current social media skills and tactics, smartphone photo and video editing skills preferred. Strong writing and public speaking skills and knowledge of crisis communication procedures. Knowledge of AP Style is a must. Adobe Photoshop skills preferred. Skills in Public Relations distribution software (such as Meltwater, Vocus, etc. preferred. Working knowledge of newsroom environment preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
