Job Overview:
The Out Patient (OP) Eating Disorder Unit (EDU) Coordinator position plays a key role in the health system and in providing excellent customer service while ensuring timely throughput and capturing all necessary data timely. The OP EDU Coordinator is responsible for front desk activities and to greet all patients in a timely and friendly manner. A core function of this position is to ensure that all customers, external and internal, are treated with the highest level of respect. The OP EDU Coordinator is to provide a safe and secure environment for the patient during the registration process.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in a related fieldA minimum of two years administrative experience and two years behavioral health experience in an acute care hospital settingCustomer service experience Medical terminology and computer skillsPreferred:
Patient Access experience preferredKnowledge in all aspects of registration, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity CareScheduling Requirements:
Day Shift, 7:00am-3:30pmPer DiemEssential Functions:
Provides excellent customer service to all patients, colleagues and other external and internal customers Interviews patients, family members and other responsible parties to gather pertinent demographic and financial information, for scheduling, pre-registration and/or registration based on assigned workObtains and accurately documents all demographic information Obtains insurance information and initiates the verification process via third party clearinghouseCompletes verification of coverage of all insurances and financial clearance activity has been completedMeets and exceeds department goals including accuracy, point of service collections and productivityEnsures all required forms are provided, reviewed, properly explained and signed by the patient or an approved person on behalf of the patientResponsible to review all work queues daily and take the required actions to update the information, correct errors and ensure that the account is accurate for billing.Charge reconciliation efforts as directed by Supervisor.Demonstrates proficiency in the entire pre-admission, registration, and financial clearance processesDemonstrates a high level of efficiency, accuracy and productivityVerifies accuracy of patient demographic information to avoid duplicating a medical recordFollows department procedures when a duplicate medical record assignment is madeComplies with organizational policies on Advance Directives and Patient RightsProvides patients with all regulatory documents, obtain required signatures, and witnesses all patients signatureMaintains department productivity by asking for additional duties when patient flow permitsDemonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessary Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude Works closely and professionally with ancillary departments to foster a team environmentParticipate in training through the development of training tools, presentations at department in-services or staff meetings, or through the training of registration staff outside of the patient access departmentOther Duties:
