Job Overview:
Answers phones courteously and in a timely fashion. Takes all intake information from the patient prior to contacting insurance company and prior to scheduling initial evaluation. Ensures that pre-certifications are obtained for all patients. Coordinates and facilitates the registration and scheduling process. Ensures the timely registration of all patients; obtains adequate financial information from the patient or his/her representative to secure payment for services rendered.

Calls insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations for speech therapy evaluation and treatmentVerifies the need for pre-certifications, pre-authorizations and referralsInforms the patient and assists in obtaining as needed. Obtains the name of the insurance representative and a reference number for the callMaintains the schedule in order to best accommodate the patients and staff to provide optimum treatment with minimum wait time between sessions. Obtains the proper medical and insurance information and schedules initial evaluationsInstructs out-patients on the required paper work to be completed prior to being seen by the clinician for the initial evaluationCollects co-pays from patients as needed at time of serviceEnsures that patients are properly registered prior to commencement of therapyEnsures that patient registration is currentPatients are provided with admitting/registration information prior to their appointmentEnsures that patients have all their paperwork completed prior to therapySends forms to physicians via mail or fax, as necessary and/or indicated by the therapistsCompletes charge sheets daily and maintains daily/monthly volume statistics for the departmentAssists with data/statistical collection as requested by the supervisor/Administrative Rehab directorCompletes special projects of the Director or other department supervisors/managers in a professional manner as evidenced by:Project is completed according to the established guidelines and time frames of the requesting partyEffective time management skills are used to ensure that projects are completed without jeopardizing normal daily work requirementsPersonal judgment is used so that repeated requests for interpretation of work assignment are kept to a minimumOpens, review, sort, date, stamp and distribute mail received for department without error, as assignedProcess mail as above, calling Director s attention to important dates, documents and communications requiring immediate responseMaintains staff meeting minutes as requested by supervisor/directorOrders office supplies/clinical supplies as needed within budget with emphasis on cost containment and waste controlPerforms activities that involve assisting Clinical Staff in order to keep normal flow of patients through the department with a minimum of wait time for patients and minimum down time for staffCompiles information as needed by law firms and other facilities requiring medical records/information with patient consent and obtains fees for such services as necessaryMaintains medical records and retrieval of records from Archives as neededOther Duties:
