Summary Oversees the development and continuation of programs to support the Baptist mission. Works closely with physicians, patients, families and hospitals on issues to improve patient care during transplant. Serves as educator, liaison and coordinator for the transplant program. Nurses in the HPC (Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell) Transplant Center shall be formally trained and experienced in the management of patients receiving HPC transplants. Training shall include hematology/oncology patient care; administration of high-dose therapy, growth factors, and have knowledge of immunosuppressive medications; management of infectious complications associated with compromised host defense mechanisms; administration of blood products; and appropriate degree of intensive medical nursing care. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities + Provides direct patient care for hematology/oncology transplant patients, including assessing, planning, implementing and monitoring quality nursing care. + Assigns and monitors the care provided by technical and ancillary personnel. + Ensures compliance with internal and external regulatory agency policies, procedures, and standards of practice. + Demonstrates proper infection prevention and control techniques. + Provides leadership. + Completes assigned goals. Requirements, Preferences and Experience Education Preferred: BSN Experience Preferred: 3 years clinical nursing experience in Oncology preferably including at least one year of Oncology critical care. Minimum: 3 years clinical nursing experience in acute care and/or Oncology. Licensure, Registration, Certification Minimum: RN;BLS AHA Training Preferred: Certification in specialty area.
