The Coordinator Construction (Lead) provides field leadership and presence, champions safety programs and is the client representative through all phases of construction and turnover for a subset of high profile economic, renewable fuels, risk mitigation and regulatory compliance projects. They will work within Suncor’s Operations & Logistics (O&L) Products group, which includes 17 Operations & Logistics Products owned/operated sites (16 Terminals and the Ethanol Plant). Focused on the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, with the possibility to support other locations elsewhere as required.Minimum Requirements:10+ years relevant industry related projects, construction, or maintenance management and/or commissioning experience.
5+ years of field management and/or operations management experience.
Degree in engineering/construction management, diploma in engineering technology, or journeyperson trade certificate with progressive contractor management and leadership experience.
Experience with heavy industrial turnaround or project construction, ideally in oil/gas/petrochemicals/utilities.
Familiarity with required jurisdictional codes and standards, e.g. ABSA, TSBC, RBQ, T-Sask, OHSA, BC Labour Relations Board.
Valid driver’s license.
Excellent communication (written, verbal, and listening), change management, non-authoritative leadership and organizational skills
Ability to predict potential risks before they arise and implement mitigation/management plans.
Familiar with SAP, Primavera, and MS Project.
Responsibilities:Accountable for field leadership and presence, implementation of contractor quality, and safety management during the execution of a regional annual capital program.
Coaches, mentors and develops the regional construction team across multiple sites, while providing direction for team assignments and supports team performance management.
Work with multiple cross-functional stakeholders to develop construction plans to support capital project portfolio, ensuring optimal execution and minimizing risk.
Fosters a shared vision of success between different Contractors, other Projects on-site, and other departments within Suncor.
Manage work progress daily, prepare daily reports, while ensuring the completed construction work meets the quality/technical requirements and escalating critical issues.
Lead daily construction briefings with Operations and Construction contractors.
Location & Other Key Details:You will work out of our Oakville Terminal site in Ontario.
This is a field office-based role with regular travel to multiple sites across Ontario and Quebec.
Bilingual is an asset.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs.
