Job Summary

The Coordinator for Promotions and Fan Experience position is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and promotional strategies to enhance attendance and overall brand growth for UT Tyler Athletics. Responsible for ensuring an excellent fan experience at all athletics events. Works closely with key teams across campus and seeks new ways to engage the campus community and local fans, driving school spirit.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

Responsible for developing annual promotional plans for all 17 varsity sports. Create and implement strategic fan engagement initiatives to enhance fan experience. This includes the creation and execution of all UT Tyler Athletics promotional activities and events that occur at each home event. Schedule/coordinate event entertainment (halftime/intermission acts, national anthem singers, etc.) at UT Tyler Athletics home contest Under the guidance of the Athletic Director develop strategies and initiatives to increase attendance and ticket revenue for all home athletics contests. Collaborate with departmental staff to develop opportunities to expand the Athletics brand through print, electronic media, advertising, web content, community partners, and social media platforms. Oversee select UT Tyler Athletics special events, such as Tail Gates, Fan Days, Season Ticket Holder Events, and On-Campus Student Initiatives Create, coordinate, grow, and facilitate all aspects of the UT Tyler Athletics Patriot Kids Club, including on-campus kids club events at UT Tyler sporting events. Work in conjunction with the Ticket Office to coordinate group sales, special events, and promotions around UT Tyler Athletics home events. Assist in coordinating game-day promotions/events during regular seasons; facilitate all other game-day activities as the point of contact Collaborate with the Division of Student Success regarding scheduling events. This includes but is not limited to Patriot Palooza (Welcome Weeks), Patriot Days, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Family Day, satellite campus initiatives, etc. Meet regularly throughout the year with key stakeholders such as student organizations, Greeks, Student Government, Faculty & Staff Senate, Academic Departments, etc. to enhance collaboration and engagement. Oversee and assist with tracking student attendance at athletic events via University-wide software (Patriots Engage). Serve as a liaison with the spirit program, pep band, and drum line. Other program duties as requested by the Director of Athletics or area head. Other duties as assigned.

Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues and external constituencies. Advanced knowledge of current advertising strategy and techniques. Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and programming languages including HTML highly desired. Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulation

Required Education / Experience

Bachelor’s Degree Two (2) years of experience in athletics communications, athletics promotions, media relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field May accept a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education / Experience

One (1) year experience developing successful promotional communications campaigns. Experience in athletics or sports environment, preferably NCAA athletic programs.
