Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) is part of the Division of Student Success. The Academic Achievement Center cultivates the development of critical thinking skills and active learning through personal, collaborative exchanges between students, tutors, leaders, and staff. Our culture of learning is based on cognitive scaffolding that deepens the student’s knowledge of specific subject material and facilitates increased self-awareness of how they learn in general. Students discover the value of engaging actively in the learning process and develop the ability to adapt to the varying challenges of liberal arts coursework. Ultimately, students’ participation in sessions results in greater self-confidence, independence, and improved academic performance. The AAC provides tutoring, academic coaching, workshops on learning skills, and equitable testing environment through our University Proctoring Lab. Position Summary The Coordinator for Tutoring Services in the Academic Achievement Center (AAC) is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of tutoring programs that support student success. This position oversees the recruitment and training of peer tutors, coordinates academic support initiatives in partnership with faculty for courses aligned with tutoring services, and collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and campus resources to address evolving student academic needs and advance equity in academic achievement. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field. 1-year experience coordinating tutoring or academic support programs in a higher education setting. Strong organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Proficiency with data management and reporting tools, such as TracCloud or similar data management platforms. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, faculty, and staff. Familiarity with academic skill-building strategies and best practices in tutoring and learning support. Understanding of the role of tutoring in student retention and success. Awareness of diverse student needs and a commitment to equity and inclusion in academic support services. Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, higher education administration, or a related field. Provide clear direction, conduct observations, and deliver performance feedback to ensure high-quality tutoring services. Foster developmentally and professionally rewarding experiences for student employees through structured support and mentorship. Percentage Of Time 30% Key Responsibility Program Delivery and Support Services Essential Tasks Design and facilitate workshops and group sessions on various academic skills topics. Deliver services and trainings in one-on-one settings, group formats, and through innovative programming. Respond to student and faculty requests for tutoring support, including triaging and addressing early warning system flags (e.g., Starfish). Percentage Of Time 15% Key Responsibility Operations, Assessment, and Communication Essential Tasks Ensure accurate and timely completion of tutoring session records and assessment protocols in platforms like TracCloud and Starfish. Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and program activities, ensuring timely reporting of outcomes and their connection to student retention and success metrics. Utilize data from tutoring services to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and make recommendations to improve student academic achievement and persistence. Monitor and respond to inquiries via the AAC chatbot and telephone line, providing timely and supportive responses. Support the development and management of social media content for AAC/Academic Skills channels to enhance outreach and engagement. Percentage Of Time 15% Key Responsibility Collaboration and Campus Engagement Essential Tasks Work with the AAC team, other Division units, campus partners, and faculty to plan and execute campus-wide or partnership events. Collaborate with faculty to align tutoring services with academic expectations and student needs. Provide support to other AAC programs and services, contributing to a cohesive and effective network of academic support initiatives.
