ABOUT Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent position based at the Hermosa Project site, near Patagonia, Arizona.

 

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for providing logistics planning, receiving, expediting, and scheduling shipments of equipment and materials in coordination with our appointed Engineers, including coordination of our appointed freight forwarders (FF) and US Customs Brokers.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 
•    Assist with the identification of competitive logistics and customs clearance services;
•    Attend all project package kick-off and progress meetings to provide and maintain consistent and accurate logistic expectations;
•    Manage weekly site deliveries forecast 
•    Review placed orders for logistics requirements including material type/specifications, special permits and/or special transport requirements to ensure an accurate delivery interval, 
•    Review equipment packaging specifications as required to ensure is in line with the S32 Packing procedure and are suitable for site storage conditions;  
•    Interact with pilot drivers daily to ensure loads are being delivered as requested 
•    Coordinate with appointed freight forwarder to ensure that equipment and materials are dispatched from point of origin ‘on time’ to meet planned ROS (Required on Site) dates;
•    Coordinate receiving of materials and ensuring materials are received by the business user.
•    Prepare and submit tracking, receiving, and expediting reports for all project supply receivables, and where necessary initiate the insurance claim process where equipment or materials are deemed to have arrived damaged;
•    Identify opportunities for improvement in efficiencies to further S32’s Continuous Improvement Objective Policy;
•    Contribute to S32’s culture of professional development and knowledge sharing by participating in the S32 GPS Material Tracking initiatives;
•    Ensure that project logistics and warehousing activities and services are executed in conformity with S32’s business and technology objectives;
•    Ensures strict compliance with S32 Change Management processes;
•    Coordinate risk assessments with input and assistance from the Construction Manager, S32 Risk Specialist, S32 Engineering Department, Consultants, internal stakeholders and the S32 Construction team(s);
•    Periodically review the Project Systems and Procedures, Supply Chain Management Execution Plan and the Project Controls Execution Plan to ensure conformity with stated business and technology objectives;
•    Assist with SP audits on appointed service providers (3PL/FF) to sustain or improve the quality of services;
•    Prepares and issues a weekly and monthly report addressing all Logistics and Warehousing activities;
•    Ensure conformity with industry codes of practice and standards;
•    Ensure that all work conforms with specified quality standards;
•    Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Contracts & Procurement Principal and/or Manager.
•    Effectively communicate any risks or threats that may have an impact on day-to-day operations.


ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 
•    Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management or equivalent qualification(s) or certification(s) preferred.
•    Knowledge of Logistics and Warehousing practices.
•    Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools used to accurately track total delivery costs, estimated time of arrivals, and score quality of service provider.
•    Knowledge of management concepts and current logistics best practices.
•    Strong and effective (English) language communication skills, both in written and oral forms.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
•    Knowledge and experience managing transportation insurance claims.
•    Experience working with teams and interacting with customers.
•    Experience working in a cross-cultural setting.
•    Proven track-record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture.
•    Proven track record of effectively working with and/or managing teams remotely.
•    Proven track record of team-wide leadership, owning team processes from start to finish, and taking ownership of team support and performance.
•    Visible leadership in the field, and ability to drive related company Safety procedures, creating a “Zero-harm Culture”.
•    Relationship-building skills: demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence, and cross-cultural effectiveness with the ability to achieve consensus and build alignment cooperatively.
•    The ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, requiring effective communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
•    Proven track record of team-wide leadership, owning team processes from start to finish, and taking ownership of team support and performance.
•    Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
•    The ability to work effectively in an extremely fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
