Summary
Responsible for data collection, data analysis and database management for the Malignant Hematology and Transplant Program. Prepares initial Oncology history note for all new cellular therapy referrals based on patient's medical record/history. Establishes and maintains policies and procedures for gathering, analyzing, and reporting clinical data. Extracts and presents pertinent data at the Quarterly Quality Management Meeting and formulates corrective action plans where needed. Participates in FACT accreditation for the Malignant Hematology & Transplant Program. Leads data audit every four years performed by the CIBMTR. Works with IRB for approving and maintaining research consents. Assists in completing RFI's for insurance providers. Proficiency with data management software and statistics. Also serves as a back-up Transplant Coordinator for autologous, allogeneic and CAR T-cell patients. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
+ Possess clinical knowledge of malignant hematology and cellular therapy for accurately abstracting and reporting bone marrow transplant and CAR T-cell medical data.
+ Use nursing knowledge to analyze patient information, treatment pathways, response to treatment, and interpret medical terminology related to bone marrow transplant, cellular therapies (CAR-T), and engraftment.
+ Conduct chart audits, compile statistical data, and write narrative reports summarizing the quality assurance findings (outcomes, trends) at Quarterly Clinical Quality Meetings.
+ Maintain and monitor the CIBMTR Database for MHT and cellular therapy patients.
+ Responsible for data quality, accuracy, and timely entries into the CIBMTR database in adherence to strict reporting standards and deadlines.
+ Conduct routine internal data audits, manage external audits, respond to RFIs and develop corrective actions plans.
+ Provide outcome and volume data, measures of quality assurance, and other information utilized for budget preparation, center of excellence requirements, contracting of transplant services, and provision of patient care.
+ Participate in FACT Accreditation and CIBMTR Data audits for the stem cell transplant program by providing required documentation of the stem cell transplant patient.
+ Work closely with the IRB and other regulatory entities.
+ Serve as back-up Transplant Coordinator.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Education
Minimum: RN, AHA BlS
Experience
Preferred: A minimum of one (1) year experience as a RN in clinical research, malignant hematology or stem cell transplant/cellular therapy.
Minimum: A minimum of one (1) year experience as a RN in a clinic, outpatient hospital or inpatient hospital setting.
Special Skills
Minimum: Must have excellent problem solving, analytical, resource management and follow up skills. Must have astute clinical knowledge disease processes. Computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, Power Point and experience with web databases.
