Henkels & McCoy currently seeking Copper Splicers for our Telecom program in Indiana. Current work locations are: Elkhart, Valparaiso, Lafayette, Kokomo, Marion Responsibilities Adhere to and advance Henkels & McCoy’s Safety Principles Work with foreman/construction manager to plan installations as required. Use and understand the copper cable color code. Read prints Install and test copper cable in a variety of environments (underground, aerial). Bond and ground copper cables according to current specifications. Place both aerial and underground splice closures along with a variety of other closures common to the splicing and termination of copper cables. Perform testing of copper cables. Record and document testing per customer specifications. Use various splicing equipment and run cable trouble (Max Tester 635 or Dynatel). Maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers at all times. Qualifications 2+ years of experience as a copper splicer with experience on outside plant or system installations while working from blueprints, specifications, and system documentation. Will have a thorough working knowledge of most widely used construction practices of copper cable. Must have the experience to detect safety issues and work independently. The applicant must successfully prove to the satisfaction of the construction supervision that he/she possesses the copper splicing abilities required for this position. This position requires significant time doing manual labor functions, walking on uneven ground, working in tight spaces and in general, being overall physically demanding. Must be able to perform heavy physical work and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner. All applicants must follow safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment at all times. All applicants must speak the English language fluently and clearly.
