The Vitalant Cord Blood Services is a not-for-profit umbilical cord blood donor bank serving Pennsylvania and New Jersey area hospitals.
These donations are registered with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) to be made available to patients already in need of blood forming cells.Most of the cord blood transplants that have been performed have been for children with leukemia, but children and adults are currently being transplanted for a variety of hematological malignancies. As there is ongoing research in the cord blood field, these donations have the potential to help with other disorders.
Our Cord Blood Specialty Lab consists of a staff of highly experienced health professionals and technicians, working under the guidance and expertise of our Scientific/Medical Advisory Panel of industry leaders, physicians, researchers, and parent advocates, offers both technical skill and unparalleled leadership. This unique combination of talents ensures that our laboratory remains on the cutting-edge of new cord blood advances, while it guarantees the safety, integrity, and viability of the client’s baby’s cord blood unit. As one of the few banks designated to process and store umbilical cord blood for both public and private use, Vitalant – Cord Blood Services maintains high industry standards. All processing and testing is performed following rigorous quality control standards set by state and federal regulatory agencies.
As a Cord Blood Clinical Review Specialist, you will use your communication skills to speak with potential donors regarding their inquiries, hospitals, as well as physicians and other medical staff. What To Expect:
Pay: $22.00 / Hourly Minimum - $29.00 / Hourly Maximum (Depending on Experience)
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Review and signoff on all charts with regards to donor eligibility, before banking.Review and signoff on all charts with regards to Cord Blood Unit eligibility, before shipment.Receive blood and blood product. Help assemble and/or deliver cord blood collection kits to hospitals when needed.Review and signoff of maternal IDM testing results.Assist in donor collection eligibility inquiries, including speaking with and helping educate parents on the benefits of cord blood donation.Assist with Donor callbacks and follow up inquiries.Serve as a clinical resource for departmental needs.Participate in department activities as needed such as, education, training, QA/QC initiatives and ad-hoc projects.
