Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio.

Working an 8:6 roster, you can FIFO from Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth or Brisbane and reside in our fully equipped accommodation village located 40km from the site.

The Role
Your strong leadership, organisational and stakeholder management skills are key to you successfully leading a team of Geological Technicians and interfacing with a diverse group of drilling contractors and other internal and external stakeholders.

The primary purpose of your role is to lead the execution of safe, efficient and effective technical and logistical support for all Core Yard related activities.  You may also be required to assist with Near Mine Exploration activities from time to time.

Key specific functions of this role include coaching and development of your team’s technical skills, knowledge and capabilities, managing rosters and raising purchase orders and maintenance requests.

About You 
•    Mining or related industry experience
•    Previous experience leading teams and the ability to coach and mentor
•    Experience with mining geology and near-mine exploration activities is desirable
•    Ability to drive a culture of inclusion, diversity, collaboration and innovation
•    Strong planning and organisational skills
•    Solid verbal communication skills
•    Contractor liaison experience
•    Computer literate and competent with Microsoft Office
•    A current manual C class driver’s licence, HR class desirable
•    4WD capabilities
•    High Risk Work License - LF (Forklift)
