Government Affairs

Policy

coordinate policy and public affairs strategy,develop policy positions in support of Lilly’s missioncollaborate with internal partners to develop and communicate messages to external stakeholders in support of policies that improve patient health outcomes and advance medical research and innovationcultivate public awareness of key issues and needed policy changes.ensuring the company is seen as a trusted partner in a wide range of organizations.

Communication (Corporate and TAs)

Support the raising of the company's profile through developing communication strategies supporting the company's corporate reputation, strategic initiatives, marketed products and pipeline programs.Develop communication strategies to raise awareness of Lilly's scientific activities and products, seizing relevant opportunities to enhance the organization's image. This applies to company reputation, strategic initiatives, marketed products and pipeline programs.Assume responsibility for external communications in Romania in 100% compliance with Lilly’s procedures, corporate communications and disclosure rules. Provide dedicated and expert communications counsel and insights to local leadership on positioning and messaging in building awareness, understanding and support for the company's strategic goals and priorities among multiple stakeholders.Build and maintain a media network, supporting the positioning of Lilly brand in the Romanian market and environment.Drive media coverage around key milestones, leveraging multiple channels such as general media, medical and industry press, social media (including local company website(s)) to increase visibility and reach target audiences, in agreement with the General Manager.Ensure positive coverage of Lilly's ambition to be a leader in the marketplace; Support the management of crisis communications and issues management.Identify and address issues that may impact Lilly's reputation as a responsible corporate citizen. Co-develop and implement the Affiliate's strategies for communicating and responding in the event of a crisis. Provide real-time support and guidance to the General Manager on crisis/issues management.

Patient Advocacy & Policy

Develop and execute patient advocacy strategy in key disease areas. Engage with patient advocacy organizations in key disease areas to incorporate the patient perspective in Lilly's strategies.Work cross-functionally to ensure alignment with other departments within the affiliate. Identification of PRA and business objectives and transformation into policy and advocacy objectives.Analysis of the external context and public policy priorities and identification of opportunities for collaboration with patient associations and influence groups.Constant updating and improvement of the company's internal procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance in the external engagement of influence groups.Matching public policy goals with corporate policy goals in building projects with patient associations.

Requirements 

Understanding of biopharmaceutical industry, supply chain dynamics, public policies impacting industry and partner/advocacy landscape. Corporate external communications, public affairs and partner engagement experience. Understanding of if/when/how to use Lilly’s thought leadership to advance policy objectives. Experience deploying media strategies and shown success interacting with reporters. Ability to work quickly and with effectively in a prompt manner. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams across a matrixed organization, establishing strong working relationships. Superb verbal and written communication skills. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Highly organized, problem solver with capability to lead multiple tasks. Ability to be a flexible teammate, act quickly and meet due dates with the highest ethical and business standards. Professional presence capable of handling ad-hoc issues, performing with a sense of immediacy. Meticulous attention to detail, with ability to grasp and focus on the big picture. Project management capabilities that include process development and improvement, communications of standard processes, and measurement. 

 

Basic Qualifications 

Bachelor’s Degree Relevant communications experience.

 

Additional Skills/Preferences 

Shown ability in leading, running and coordinating large cross-functions and sophisticated results; ability to influence without authority; ability to develop collaborations and good working relationships to secure teamwork across all functions. Previous experience with or knowledge of drug development and commercialization. Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to lead strategy projects, engage others and translate strategy into implementation tactics and capabilities. Established capability to influence others and lead without authority. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across functional and geographic boundaries as well as across, up, and down the interpersonal ladder. Experience working with professional, advocacy, communications outlets or similar collaborators.
