Corporate Communications Intern
Trustmark is currently seeking a Communications intern for our 2025 Summer Internship Program, which will run from June 3 to August 9. We are looking for someone who is interested in helping move forward key enterprise initiatives while gaining insights into corporate communications. The ideal intern should possess strong initiative, be detail oriented and demonstrate excellent oral/written communication skills. As a Communications intern, you will work under the supervision of the Executive Director of Strategic Communications. Among other activities, you will help conduct an audit of Trustmark’s enterprise social media channels and develop a strategy to increase visibility. You will draft content for employee communication channels and the Trustmark website. Success in this role will be demonstrated by delivering high-quality and timely work under minimal supervision, helping to educate, inform and engage employees and external audiences as you tell the Trustmark story. Help move forward key enterprise initiatives while gaining insights into corporate communications and Human Resources. Hands-on experience working on employee engagement and communication project work. Work under the supervision of the Executive Director of Strategic Communications in the Human Resources Department. Audit of Trustmark’s enterprise social media channels and develop a strategy to increase visibility. **Key Accountabilities:** + Conduct audit of – and draft content for – enterprise social media channels + Review current topics covered on Trustmark social media channels + Audit competitor channels + Make recommendations to increase frequency and visibility of social media presence in meaningful ways + Draft content for posts on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn + Collaborate with Marketing intern on social media presence + Content creation: Assist in the creation of engaging content for flyers, emails, PowerPoint presentations and other communications. + In collaboration with HR intern, review Careers section of Trustmark website, make recommendations for content refresh and support those efforts. + Event coordination: Provide support organizing and promoting various internal meetings. + Survey support: Participate in the launch of regional and company-wide surveys to gather associate input by helping to create awareness, gather information to be used for external surveys and track metrics. + Attend D&I Council meetings to participate in the planning and execution of events celebrating diverse perspectives and lived experiences. **Minimum Requirements:** + Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or English, and has completed at least the junior year of coursework + Interested in experiencing the variety of work in a Corporate Communications department + GPA of at least 3.0 + Experience in MS Office. Experience with Excel is a plus. + Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; good organizational skills + Ability to work quickly and accurately, with attention to detail + Ability to work individually and as part of a team + Able to maintain flexible work schedule in a hybrid model, working 3 days per week (Tues., Wed., Thurs.) in Trustmark’s Lake Forest office and 2 days per week offsite. The compensation range for this role is the following based on the location of Lake Forest, Illinois: $18.89 - $27.29 per hour The final offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
