POSITION SUMMARY:
The Corporate Counsel will join the legal team based in Springfield, Missouri, and will report directly to the General Counsel. You will support all areas of Bass Pro’s manufacturing, hospitality, and retail business. The position will require day-to-day legal counseling, research, and management of litigation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide proactive, practical, and timely day-to-day advice to internal business partners across all areas of Bass Pro and its affiliates’ businesses on a wide variety of legal issuesMonitor legislative and regulatory developments; proactively identify and assess legal risks and opportunities; advise internal business partners regarding sameReview and draft company policies and procedures to drive compliance with federal, state, and local lawsAssist in developing, preparing, and providing training to internal business partners on various legal topicsRepresent the company in administrative matters filed with state and federal agenciesSupervise and manage outside counsel on litigated matters, as assigned; assist with discoverySupport the existing Bass Pro legal team with daily work and to complete strategic initiativesQualifications
J.D. from ABA accredited law schoolAdmitted and member in good standing in at least one state bar and ability to become licensed as in-house counsel in MissouriOne to three years’ legal experience, practicing in law firm or in-house legal department. Recent experience with retail and/or manufacturing industries preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Ability
