Michelin is hiring! We are looking for a top litigation lawyer who covets a business environment to be a part of our Legal team.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Michelin North America, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Corporate Counsel with a primary focus on the internal management of a variety of complex litigation matters throughout the United States. The ideal candidate will have previous external experience in litigation, including all associated aspects and processes, with an ability to strategically manage such matters and provide advice to senior Law Department members and internal stakeholders. Commitment to excellence and the ability to professionally and informatively collaborative with all levels of internal and external partners, company management, and external legal counsel are qualities that will drive success in this role.

What Will You Do:

Responsible for the day-to-day management of litigation, including fact development, discovery, briefing, settlement negotiations, trial strategy, and budget management

Work closely with the internal legal team and external counsel in the development and execution of strategy for litigation and some regulatory matters

Provide legal advice and training to all employees within the company on litigation and regulatory topics; report to senior Law Department and counsel company management on important legal issues and topics.

Develop, implement, and maintain internal systems that promote effective, relevant and efficient legal services to internal business partners.

Examples of responsibilities:

Meet internally with the litigation team to discuss case strategy or risk mitigation projects/work on these projects,Meet with external counsel to discuss case status/strategy/pending actions,Review documents prepared by external counsel read for filing,Meet and present to internal customers on the portfolio.

What Will You Bring:

Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited institution. Admission to and good standing in any state bar or DC bar.

3-7 years of proven experience, primarily with a litigation background.

Specific experience with product liability or complex litigation is considered a plus.

Shown success cultivating strong client and business partner relationships.

High-Risk Tolerance and ability to proactively and strategically evaluate risk and manage various litigation and some regulatory matters and effectively advise and communicate on such matters to senior Law Department management and internal partners.

Experience analyzing legal implications of various legal cases and regulatory topics, and a strong ability to identify and evaluate strategy and provide guidance and counsel on same.

Ability to effectively collaborate in transverse team settings, drive legal strategies, and appropriately communicate information and advice logically and effectively.

Ability to prioritize a busy and diverse workload and to proactively identify and assess potential legal issues

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office® Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint) and ability to learn other software systems.
