Corporate Counsel - US Based Remote

Anywhere Real Estate Inc. is seeking an experienced attorney with a strong background in commercial real estate leasing. As a key member of our Corporate Legal Department, you will play a crucial role in managing our real estate legal services. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of the department, you will collaborate closely with other legal professionals, including a real estate attorney, a real estate paralegal, and a lease coordinator.

Responsibilities primarily relate to Anywhere’s corporate real estate lease portfolio, which consists of approximately 4.3 million square feet of domestic office space, including 3.4 million square feet of housing the approximately 620 company owned real estate brokerage offices.

Responsibilities:

Drafting and Negotiation: Prepare, review, analyze, interpret, and negotiate commercial real estate leases, lease amendments, lease assignments, and subleases. Agreements and Certificates: Review, revise, and negotiate estoppel certificates, subordination, non-disturbance, and attornment agreements, license agreements, indemnification agreements, commencement agreements, escrow agreements, confidentiality agreements, termination agreements, and vendor contract agreements. Professional Interaction: Interact professionally with multiple business contacts. Lease Workflow: Manage lease workflow efficiently and respond to client requests promptly. Effective Communication: Interpret complex legal information and communicate it clearly to business teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Collaboration and Risk Analysis: Build positive relationships with internal teams, including legal colleagues and business clients. Collaborate to analyze legal risks and find effective solutions.

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

J.D. Degree: You must have a J.D. from an accredited ABA law school. Experience: At least 5 years of commercial real estate leasing experience in a large corporation or law firm. Communication and Drafting Skills: Excellent communication and legal drafting skills are essential. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and creative problem-solving abilities are also important. Collaboration: You’ll work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
