What We’re Looking For:
A strategic leader with a passion for hospitality and a flair for innovation, the Corporate Director of Meetings & Events, Catering shapes the future of our catering programs across our portfolio of properties. In this high-impact role, the leader collaborates cross-functionally with key departments, including Food & Beverage, Finance, Digital Marketing, and Brand Marketing to drive excellence in catering strategy, sales, and execution. A subject matter expert who provides visionary leadership and guidance to hotel teams, while crafting and implementing forward-thinking plans that elevate our catering sales, enhance guest experiences, and maximize profitability. What You’ll Do:
Yield management: optimize the use of event space, pricing and availability based on demand, timing, guest behavior, and historical data
Train hotel teams in yield management procedures and best practices
Evaluate catering business opportunities to maximize revenue and profitability while achieving customer expectations to set standards
Carefully review all contracted services to ensure proper contribution to profits
Evaluate changes in client needs, business mix, industry and competitive trends to recommend appropriate product/service and operational changes to ensure guest and employee satisfaction, maintain market dominance, and provide exceptional financial returns
Educate and assist hotels in the development and execution of evaluation plans
Understand the demands of clients’ events and can help craft and implement hotel operating standards to maximize efficiency
Strategize to optimize room rental charges
Understand Marketing, Public Relations, and Social Media and partner with those departments to promote Catering and Social events and help drive demand and awareness at the brand level
Actively participate in industry related organizations such as National Association for Catering Events (NACE), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), etc.
Conduct hotel site inspections in detail to revitalize and elevate experiences
Utilize creative skills to provide innovative set-ups, menus, and functions for groups
Partner with Corporate Chef and Brand Design Studio on creation/revision of Wedding Package Menus and Specialty Menus
Provide resources for hotel teams to optimize revenues, streamline processes to increase efficiency, while creating memorable experiences
Monitor sales performance of Catering Sales, assess practices and advise towards success
Track Catering meeting survey scores at hotels, assist in correcting issues and improving scores to meet targets
Serve as a subject matter expert on catering contract details, review/edit contracts with the Legal team, and train the field on proper negotiation and execution
Offer input on creation of Quarterly/Annual Event Managers and Catering Sales Managers incentives to drive profitable revenues
Provide analytical review of data, develop strategies and implement across all properties Continually monitor results and adjust as appropriate for maximum effect.
Provide continuous training and education plan for field Directors and teams
Collaborate with 3rd party partner websites to institute brand agreements and standardize hotel participation
Support hotels through Budget/Forecast process through reviewing data and providing recommendations for changes
Establish/ensure adherence to all department and Loews Hotels guidelines, policies, and procedures
Work with leadership to include Catering and Event Management in Brand and Commercial Team communications, efforts, and accolades including Annual Awards, Super Stars, MVP Points Program, etc.
Regular and reliable attendance in conformance with Company standards
Attend all mandatory meetings and participate in/complete all mandated/required training courses
Perform other duties as assigned
Your Qualifications Include:
High School Diploma or equivalent required along with relevant applicable experience
Minimum ten years’ experience in Catering Sales and Event Management
Working knowledge of M&E Operating systems like FDC, Diagramming Systems, Opera, Micros or comparable hotel systems Extensive knowledge of partnering departments such as Banquet Operations, Restaurants, Digital Marketing, Marketing
Strong acumen of the social market with an emphasis on Weddings, Galas, Prom, Fundraisers
Familiarity with selling, planning and execution of Ethnic events
Strong yield management skills with an understanding of optimizing the catering mix of business and the use of historical data; ability to train hotel teams to do the same
Thorough knowledge of sales techniques including strong closing skills as well as negotiating skills, particularly in Wedding/Social events
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of corporate and hotel staff and management
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
Outstanding selling skills with a focus on Wedding / Social events
Excels in a fast-paced work environment
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays based on business needs
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time to attend meetings, hotel visits, corporate events as needed
