Corporate Financial Reporting Manager

 

Position: 

 

The Corporate Financial Reporting Manager is a high-profile role with interesting and challenging work combined with a high level of responsibility, including team management, and giving significant exposure to external (e.g., Group auditors) and internal stakeholders.

This position is a key member of the Corporate Accounting department. The Corporate Accounting department is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the Global Tobacco segment IFRS Financial Statements subsequently reported to JT (Japan Tobacco), the parent company based and listed in Tokyo.

 

 

As Corporate Financial Reporting Manager you will be responsible for: 

 

1. Overseeing the Financial Accounting & Reporting Managers’ regular accounting and reporting activities, specifically:

 

Overseeing and reviewing quarterly close activities (notably Balance Sheet Deck, Net Income Deck, OCC Deck, JSOX controls) to ensure accounting accuracy and completeness, appropriate analysis as well as top notch quality and timely completion Overseeing and reviewing the Global Tobacco Net Income planning process (OL, LE, A&SP) to ensure accounting accuracy, completeness as well as top notch quality and timely completion Overseeing and reviewing the team’s annual activities, mainly in preparation of year-end close (e.g., brand impairment reviews, leaf inventory review) Own JSOX controls for its area of responsibility Driving the continuous improvement of the team’s analysis and reporting processes and deliverables  

2. Leading from a Corporate Accounting standpoint the Modern Reporting project (project to enhance Corporate Accounting’s analytical review and reporting capabilities via the use of AI and Power BI), which mainly involves:

 

Contributing to blueprint and refinement of business requirements in collaboration with BTS and the extended team (e.g., definition of the project scope, the design of methods to identify outliers for selected P&L and Balance Sheet items) Participating in testing Working with the project manager to monitor project progress and ensure change management incl. appropriate communication to extended team and other stakeholders Coordinating activities with the Financial Analytics Manager and other Corporate Accounting team members as needed to ensure timely completion of core and extended business team tasks

 

3. Owning other assigned projects and ad-hoc tasks:

 

Supporting other Corporate Accounting or cross-functional projects and ad-hoc tasks as requested and ensuring that available Corporate Accounting resources are allocated timely to support the projects; driving allocated tasks in line with set timelines and reviewing the team’s work to ensure it meets set objectives Providing IFRS guidance to the business by taking over assigned IFRS technical queries, incl. the preparation of position papers

4. Owning the management of direct reports:

 

Recruiting, motivating, and guiding direct reports Taking ownership for the team’s continuous development Ensuring effective utilization of resources

 

 

Requirements:

 

University degree, internationally recognized accounting certification (ACCA, CPA) Strong IFRS knowledge 6-8+ years’ experience in a Corporate Accounting department or in external audit, Big 4 experience is a must Fluent in English Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong MS office skills are a must (Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook at a minimum), first experience with analysis tools such as Power BI is a plus Flexibility on working hours during closing and planning periods Ability to analytically review accounting system data (SAP experience is preferable)
