UFG is currently hiring for a Corporate Governance Director - Claims who will be a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of property, casualty, and workers’ compensation claims. This role is primarily responsible for overseeing claims regulatory compliance and quality assurance, ensuring adherence to DOI regulations, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and internal compliance standards. Key responsibilities include managing DOI compliance requests and exams, evaluating policies and best practice to maintain regulatory alignment, and overseeing claims payment compliance. This role also provides strategic oversight of claims administration including authority management, entitlement audits, system access controls and Medicare compliance. Additionally, the director serves as the primary liaison with internal audit, leading claims involvement in audits, ensuring the development and execution of action plans, and tracking regulatory reporting and quality assurance initiatives.
Beyond compliance, this role provides critical oversight of shared services functions within the claim’s organization. This includes managing adjuster licensing and appointments, claim’s quality assurance program, subrogation, SIU, and vendor relationships in partnership with the Vendor Management office. This director also collaborates closely with Finance, Reinsurance, and claims leadership to oversee budget planning, vendor contract expenditures and travel budget allocations for the claim’s organization. This position requires strong analytical skills, regulatory expertise, and the ability to drive operational excellence across multiple disciplines within the claims function.
Responsibilities:
Development and maintenance of the governance framework for the entire department including but not limited to:
Claims Regulatory Compliance/Quality Assurance
DOI compliance requests and exams Evaluate Policies and Guidelines and Claims Best Practices to ensure compliance to DOI regulations Sarbanes Oxley Review/compliance (SOX) Payment oversight/compliance System Administration (authority oversight, entitlement audit and system access) Medicare Compliance Manage the relationship with Internal Audit operating as the direct point of contact signing off on the annual control workflows, oversight of Claims involvement in the audit process including the development of action plans and management responses to findings ensuring completion by the due dates Oversight of Claims regulatory reporting Quality Assurance programShared Services Oversight
Adjuster Licensing and Appointments Subrogation SIU Vendor Oversight in partnership with Vendor Management Office Work with Vendor Management Office to vet new vendor requests, contract review, involvement in vendor playbook/catalog, approval and contract signing along with SOC review Reinsurance Oversight in partnership with Ceded Re and Finance Responsible for quality review process to control leakage, backup Property Director on Pillar reporting along with managing our reinsurance relationshipsBudget Oversight
Direct oversight of the entire budget for Claims working closely with Finance. Education:
Bachelor’s Degree RequiredCertifications/Designations:
Insurance designations such as CPCU, SCLA, AIC, CIC, and AIM preferred, or working toward within the first 2 yearsExperience:
10+ years of experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry, preferred 5+ years in leadership role managing legal, regulatory and compliance requirements, preferred 5+ years in a leadership role within a claim’s organization, preferredWorking Conditions:
