**Position Summary**
The successful candidate will work directly with, and under the guidance of, attorneys in the General Counsel’s Office, in a competent, confidential, ethical, timely, and cost-efficient manner conducting legal research, preparing legal memoranda, assisting with litigation, drafting legal communications, documents, and pleadings, and assisting with the formulation and implementation of District policy. This position will also provide exposure to the Nebraska legislative process while assisting with research and review of legislative bills.
This temporary position is available from approximately May 15, 2025, through August 15, 2025, and the work schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with hybrid options available. At NPPD, we value continuing education, and there is potential for additional part-time work when school is in session.
**Education, Training and Experience**
Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited law school and must be completed with at least their first year of studies by the start date of the position. The ideal candidate must have successfully completed legal writing and research and have strong research and writing skills.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**
• Support attorneys by researching a variety of legal issues and writing legal memoranda
• Support attorneys by providing statutory and regulatory interpretation and application
• Draft pleadings for attorney review
• Support attorneys in hearing or trial preparation
• Review work product and discovery documents to determine relevance to legal strategies

**Salary Information** _-_ Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.
**Starting Salary Range:** $31.75 - $36.63 hourly
**Travel Required:** Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) _Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview._

**Retirement Savings**
NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
