About the opportunity  

Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will be responsible for managing and influencing stakeholders on a range of real estate and general advisory matters. 


 

What you’ll deliver with us  

Negotiate sale, acquisition and leasing agreements for significant industrial sitesAdvise on property portfolio management, including industrial and retail leasingAdvise on a broad range of general real estate matters including, environmental, heritage and construction.Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements that achieve business objectives and allocate risk in accordance with risk appetiteProvide pragmatic legal support to your stakeholders to manage their legal obligations in accordance with Australia Post’s risk appetite and regulatory frameworkAssist the enterprise to meet its strategic objectives and prioritiesProvide independent, strategically focused legal advice that adds value for Australia PostBe a team player, support your peers, and promote the value and reputation of Group LegalBe aware of emerging trends and new legislation, and be able to incorporate these changes into your legal adviceAdvocate for strong corporate ethics and governanceDevelop and maintain standard form legal documentation, resources and toolkitsOptimise the value and quality of legal services from external legal resourcesAssist in training the business to understand its legal rights and compliance obligationsProactively look for opportunities to simplify the way we deliver legal services to the enterprise



About you  

As a trusted advisor to the business, you will need to have:

At least 5 years post-admission experience, having worked at a top-tier firm, or having relevant in-house experienceAn unrestricted Australian practicing certificateBroad experience across general real estate mattersStrong leasing (commercial and retail) experienceStrong general commercial advisory experienceGreat problem-solving skills and the ability to generate pragmatic, commercially focussed solutions to assist in the success of business initiativesExcellent drafting and communication skillsThe ability to build strong relationships and effectively influence internal and external stakeholders. A proactive positive attitude


Experience in any of the following areas of practice would be of additional value, but is not essential - litigation, construction, and regulated industries.
