Nelson Mullins, a national AmLaw 100 law firm, is looking for their next great affordable housing paralegal.
A Day in the LifeAs a paralegal joining this team, you will take on a significant and client-facing role, handling more substantive tasks than typical for a paralegal in a law firm setting. You will manage multiple deals simultaneously, creating and maintaining checklists, tracking deadlines, and coordinating with various parties such as local government agencies, transaction party counsels, architects, surveyors, clients, lenders, and other financing entities. Your responsibilities will also include drafting and preparing legal opinions, corporate resolutions, loan documents, and other corporate and financial documentation, as well as preparing correspondence and documentation for clients, parties, professionals, and colleagues. You will build knowledge of team and client systems and processes while gathering and maintaining client and transaction-related records in our case management systems.
Additionally, you will coordinate all releases and satisfactions required for title issuance on financings, work closely with your real estate colleagues to ensure a smooth all-around closing process and review and facilitate the execution of all transaction documents prepared by third-party lenders and investors, such as financial institutions, tax credit syndicators, Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, Fannie Mae, etc. You will prepare closing documents, agreements, and legal opinions, including all corporate authorization documents and other support documentation, and facilitate attorney review for transactional matters review transaction documents for clauses related to client questions, such as consent and termination requirements. Your role will also involve coordinating all aspects of corporate due diligence and forming and organizing business entities in various states, ensuring compliance with respective Secretaries of State.

While a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program are preferred, relevant work experience will also be considered as a substitute.
