Aston Carter is hiring a Corporate Paralegal on behalf of a global intermodal company in Norfolk, VA.

Please note this a 60-day initial contract with HIGH potential for extension and permanency.

About:

Assist the General Counsel in preparing documents, correspondence, filings, and managing legal affairs, including litigation, claims, contracts, compliance, and insurance program files.

ResponsibilitiesAssist General Counsel in preparation of documents, correspondence, filings, and management of legal affairs, including litigation, claims, contracts, compliance, and insurance program files.Maintain corporate record books at the direction of Region Counsel and Corporate Secretary.Manage all third-party recovery files retained by the Claims & Insurance Department.Review contracts for execution on behalf of the company and other entities, provide recommended actions to Region Counsel.Draft and submit routine/periodic corporate reports/records for review and approval in accordance with jurisdictional requirements.Process and monitor payment of vendor invoices.Process and monitor disbursement or receipt of claim settlement funds.Perform any other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsAdministrative supportLegal administrativeParalegal skillsLegal document preparationLegal supportAdditional Skills & Qualifications3+ years of paralegal experienceExperience in a corporate legal atmosphereUnderstanding of legal jargon and corporate filingsKnowledge of discovery and how to organize itUnderstanding of court hierarchyBachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) preferred; or one to seven years related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experiencePre-Law, Finance, and/or Cargo Claims experience a plusStrong interpersonal and communication skillsIndependent and analytical thinkingAbility to work effectively with a broad range of constituencies in a diverse community
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
