GWS Tool Group, a division of Sandvik SMS (Sandvik Machining Solutions), is seeking a Corporate Quality Control Manager to support day-to-day operations. This individual will ensure compliance with all customers and internal GWS/Sandvik standards and requirements. This role is critical to maintaining a strong Quality signature for GWS Tool products and customer satisfaction. Will support on correcting Quality issues, particularly in areas of non-conformances, improvement, risk identification, and supplier development. The Corporate Quality Control Manager will provide guidance, implement processes, and manage quality risk.
Job Overview:
Position Summary
The Corporate Quality Control Manager is responsible for managing the Quality Control unit of all 12 GWS Sites and supporting the overall Business Management System (BMS) across all functions within GWS Tool Group. This position will ensure that all Quality Control (QC) processes are in place and effectively executed in alignment with GWS Tool Group objectives and regulatory requirements. This position will work closely with Engineering and our commercial teams to help improve our customer outcomes by managing site-level QC teams and interfacing with suppliers and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
+ Report monthly and annually to senior GWS leadership on the KPIs for the Quality Unit (e.g., Scrap, Rework, COQ, NC)
+ Support the development of process documentation including Procedures, Work Instructions, Forms, Flow Diagrams
+ Oversee the Quality Control activities at all GWS Tool Group sites.
+ Implement standardized QC processes across all manufacturing locations.
+ Ensure proper training of site-level QC team members and maintain a culture of accountability.
+ Partner with site Directors of Manufacturing to drive improvements at all levels of operations
+ Support the individual sites with site-level CAPA/NC/audits/Documentation
+ Support Purchasing with Supplier Quality Audits/Scorecard Maintenance and Monitoring
Team Management:
+ Manage and support individual site-level QC team members, ensuring consistent adherence to quality protocols.
+ Foster an environment of collaboration and continuous learning across teams.
Supplier and Customer Interface:
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers and customers regarding quality matters.
+ Collaborate with suppliers to ensure material and component compliance with GWS and customer standards.
+ Manage and resolve supplier-related non-conformance and performance issues.
Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs):
+ Lead the development and resolution of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) for both internal and supplier-related issues.
+ Collaborate with individual GWS site personnel to support external CAPA processes.
+ Ensure timely and effective closure of CAPAs, preventing reoccurrence of quality issues.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in business management, Quality Management, or a related field
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment, preferably in metalworking or precision tooling.
+ Proven expertise in ISO quality systems.
+ Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience managing site-level teams.
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong understanding of root cause analysis and CAPA methodologies.
+ Proficient in quality management software and tools.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
Preferred Skills:
+ Lean Manufacturing, or equivalent certifications.
+ Experience with regulatory and compliance requirements in the metal-cutting industry.
+ Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control) and other quality control methodologies.
+ Must be willing to travel to facilities frequently.(40% Travel)on planned and unplanned trips
+ Ability to travel between locations including driving as well as flying.
+ Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
+ Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
