OVERVIEW:
The Corps Ministry Assistant is responsible for overseeing administrative functions and providing operational support to the Corps Officers, ensuring the effective management of day-to-day activities. This position is ideal for a motivated individual with a heart for ministry and a strong background in administration, program coordination, and financial management. The Corps Ministry Assistant plays a key role in supporting The Salvation Army’s mission to serve the community and share the love of Christ.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Corps office Assist in creating a welcoming environment Assist the Corps Officers by managing correspondence, maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating appointments Answer telephone calls, process mail, and respond to inquiries Process employee timesheets, time off requests, and other HR-related documentation Oversee office supply inventory Process all volunteer paperwork to Divisional Headquarters File all volunteer paperwork Plan and coordinate all Protecting The Mission (PTM) trainings and maintain PTM training tracker Handle all statistics and record as necessary using Corps Management System Process accounts payable and income Assist with tracking and reporting financial activities Maintain financial records and prepare reports Coordinate Kettle Campaigns, Angel Tree programs, and volunteer scheduling Assist with tracking donations, ensuring proper documentation and acknowledgments Plan and network with other Community Agencies in order to coordinate the Family Life Skills Program A key component to this position is to provide necessary programmatic planning support to the Corps Officers and Corps Leaders who will implement the corps programs. Secure necessary resources and prepare needed materials for all corps programs - including, but not limited to: Women’s Ministries, Sunday School, Troops, Men’s Ministries, Community Cares Ministries, etc. All elements should align with The Salvation Army curriculum and values. Collaborate with Corps Officers to organize and support special events, worship services, and community programs Assist in recruiting and training volunteers for various programs and activities Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent (required) CA driver’s license (required) Experience as an administrative assistant (required) Bachelor’s degree in business, administration, or a related field (preferred) Experience with Microsoft programs Experience working with children’s programs, Sunday School lessons, and women’s ministries is (preferred) Committed to upholding and promoting the mission and values of The Salvation ArmySKILLS AND ABILITIES:
