The Indiana State Prison is a maximum security Correctional facility for adult males . The Indiana State Prison is located in Michigan City, Indiana. The Indiana State Prison is the oldest Correctional facility in operations for the Department of Correction, located on 100 acres in Michigan City, Indiana. Role Overview: ​As a Correctional Casework Manager, you will be responsible for supervising Correctional Caseworkers. In addition, you will be responsible for providing information and facilitating the attainment of needed resources. The purpose of work is to ensure that the IDOC policies and established guidelines are met in providing incarcerated individuals with proper guidance and supporting facility staff as needed. You will be providing generalized instruction to staff as well as detailed instruction on specific cases. You will provide recommendations concerning incarcerated individuals' location, classification, employment, parole opportunities, external contacts, and most other aspects of institutional facility life. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: + Provide immediate supervision to your Correctional Caseworker team for adherence to policy and procedure through the use of routine CQI assessments. + Supervise, train, coach, and review the performance of correctional caseworkers assigned to the unit team, assess individual strengths and weaknesses, utilize regular evaluations and frequent informal reviews of staff performance in accordance with the standards, guidelines and policies of the Department and State Personnel Department. + Assess each assigned offender's risks and needs utilizing the Individual Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS). + Coordinate with all appropriate facility staff to address re-entry and release issues. + Provide group and individual programming for re-entry and release as required. + Coordinate with the classification department staff to make appropriate classification recommendations for offenders. + Conduct unit orientation for newly received offenders. + Maintain high security standards in the unit and facility. + Some essential functions of this position may be performed onsite at the agency’s worksite or other assigned worksites while some essential functions of this position may be eligible for work from home authorization in accordance with policy. Remote work authorization is not automatic and is dependent upon operational needs and agency approval. This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary. What You'll Need for Success: You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: + ​Possession of a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE). + At least two (2) years of work experience in social work, corrections, criminal justice, or related field. Substitutions: Each one (1) year of related education may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. + Within 90 days of hire, you must obtain the Indiana Risk Assessment System Certification through the Indiana Office of Court Services. + Must test negative on all drug screenings. + Upon hire, the ability to successfully complete all mandatory training including the DOC Supervisory Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses. + Ability to write records of offenders. + Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage the work of the staff. + Ability to establish a working relationship with staff and offenders. + Knowledge and ability to utilize conflict resolution techniques. + Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care. This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
