Work is performed under limited supervision. Responsibilities include: · Planning, directing, and overseeing the work of a team, including master, journeyman, and helper electricians. · Developing and implementing an electrical maintenance program to ensure the efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment. · Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and components. · Supervising and instructing a resident work crew, providing guidance on tasks and monitoring behavior and performance. REPRESENTATIVE TASKS: · Oversees the installation and maintenance of transmission lines, including poles, transformers, and related equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and electrical codes. · Directs and inspects light and power circuit installations to ensure proper functionality and code compliance. · Supervises wiring for state-owned buildings during construction or remodeling, ensuring electrical code adherence. · Manages inventory of materials and equipment to maintain adequate electrical supply levels. · Plans and coordinates electrical repairs, installations, and maintenance to ensure system integrity. · Maintains accurate records of procedures, meter readings, and electrical work. · Inspects electrical systems, appliances, and equipment to ensure safe and proper operation. · Monitors resident behavior to ensure task completion and maintain facility security. · Supervises and instructs resident workers on electrical projects to ensure quality and safety. · Ensures compliance with HR laws, policies, and procedures, including recruitment, performance appraisals, safety protocols, and employee confidentiality. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (These are required to successfully perform the assigned work.) Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; State and National Electrical Code; tools, materials, methods, and practices of the electrical trade; principles and theory of electricity; and occupational hazards and safety precautions of the electrical trade. Ability to supervise subordinate personnel; plan, assign, and evaluate the work of others; interpret and work from sketches, diagrams, and blueprints; keep records and files; estimate materials required for a job; detect and repair defects in a variety of electrical systems and equipment; use and care for tools and equipment used in the electrical trade; and use applicable computer programs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:(Entry level knowledge, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience). · A High School Diploma or equivalent and a current valid Master Electrician’s license as issued by the Electrician’s Examining Board and two (2) years experience at the Master level.
