About LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility:
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility (LPJCF) promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. We strive to model best Correctional practices, return productive citizens to our communities, and inspire a culture of accountability, integrity and professionalism. The LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility is an intake and multi-level security facility for juvenile females. LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility is located in LaPorte, Indiana. LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility was established in 2017 by converting an existing juvenile facility (Camp Summit Boot Camp) into a female juvenile facility. It is the only female juvenile facility in Indiana. LaPorte Juvenile also serves as the intake facility for all female juveniles committed to the Indiana Department of Correction.
Role Overview:
The purpose of your work is to ensure that the Department policies and established guidelines are met in providing the incarcerated individuals with proper counseling and supporting facility staff if needed. You will receive general instructions and discuss deviations from established guidelines with the supervisor. Work is reviewed by the supervisor for soundness of judgment and attainment of objectives.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
+ Serve as a social worker or a case manager and perform mental health assessments of offenders.
+ Gather needed information to determine needs and establish a treatment plan for the offenders by providing pre-admission evaluations and progress notes.
+ Plan and implement therapeutic techniques best suited to offender development and treatment needs.
+ Monitor offender progress throughout the treatment plan.
+ Assess offender needs on the areas of social, educational, occupational, emotional, and physical areas.
+ Consult and liaise with various social service agencies and institutions for needed services to assist the offenders.
+ Document offender progress, attendance, counselling sessions, referrals, prerelease paperwork, and visiting lists, and maintain the offender in the Juvenile Data System.
+ Some essential functions of this position may be performed onsite at the agency’s worksite or other assigned worksites while some essential functions of this position may be eligible for work from home authorization in accordance with policy. Remote work authorization is not automatic and is dependent upon operational needs and agency approval.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Criminology, Social Work, or a related area.
+ Two (2) years of full-time experience in a psychiatric, children, family, or correctional setting.
+ Specialized knowledge of case management, social work, assessment, and continuum of care.
+ Working knowledge of causes, symptoms, and limitations of various mental disabilities.
+ Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
