Corrosion Control Lead

The Corrosion Control Lead is responsible for overseeing and implementing corrosion prevention, mitigation, and control strategies for infrastructure, facilities, and equipment on Ascension Island. This role ensures compliance with industry standards and government regulations to extend the service life of assets in a highly corrosive environment. The lead will supervise a team of specialists, coordinate maintenance schedules, and ensure effective execution of corrosion control programs. Position is located on Ascension Island. This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: + Lead and supervise a team of corrosion control specialists in executing corrosion prevention and mitigation tasks. + Develop and implement corrosion prevention and control strategies, including protective coatings, cathodic protection systems, and environmental controls. + Conduct inspections, assessments, and testing to identify corrosion issues and determine appropriate corrective actions. + Ensure compliance with U.S. government, military, and industry standards for corrosion control and protective coatings. + Maintain accurate records of inspections, treatments, and preventative maintenance measures. + Train and advise personnel on corrosion prevention techniques and best practices. + Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to develop long-term asset protection plans. + Recommend and procure materials and equipment needed for corrosion prevention and mitigation efforts. + Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials associated with corrosion control treatments . + Stay updated on industry advancements and emerging technologies in corrosion management . Material & Equipment Directly Used: + May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE) such as flak vest and Kevlar helmet; may be required to push, pull, and lift heavy equipment. + Use of cell phones to maintain contact and accountability of work activities. Working Environment: + The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Physical Activities: + Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion. + Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium. Qualifications Education: + High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in corrosion control or related fields preferred . Certifications: + Must be eligible for Base Access / Clearance. + Must have a valid Driver's License. Experience: + 5+ years of experience in corrosion prevention, control, or protective coatings application. + Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a corrosion control or maintenance-related role. + Knowledge of industry standards such as NACE, SSPC, and MIL-SPEC for corrosion control and protective coatings. + Experience working with cathodic protection systems, corrosion-resistant materials, and inspection techniques . Other Requirements: + Ability to operate and maintain corrosion testing and application equipment. + Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work in a remote and physically demanding environment on Ascension Island. + Excellent communication and leadership skills. Skills & Technology Used: + Strong and analytical skills + Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities + Willingness to work in varied weather conditions on a remote island. + Ability to respond to emergency situations including after-hours calls.
