We have a global presence with production sites on three continents and 14,500 employees from 70 nations. WACKER North America is looking for several highly motivated college students for our 12-week summer internship program at our Innovation Center and Regional Headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI. We have several internships available in our business teams working on value added chemical related projects. Silicone projects could include one of the following focus areas: + Applications Lab (cosmetic raw materials) + Measure physical properties of new cosmetic raw materials and assess both formulation compatibility and application properties, alone or versus both incumbent materials and industry benchmark materials. + Activities may also include formulation and batching, qualitative and instrumental measurements of shine, hair and skin conditioning properties, film formation, et cetera, and formulation properties such as pH, viscosity, emulsion particle size, and stability over time. + Demonstrate solid understanding of the scientific method, analysis of data, and presentation of results and conclusions to help drive the product development process forward. + Be willing to work in a globally-distributed, cross-functional, innovative, and agile team environment. The internship will include responsibilities such as project innovation, routine lab work, product sampling, production testing, product & data analysis of Silicone products to better understand the chemical behavior and market applicability. Position Qualifications: + Currently a rising sophomore or higher and attending school to obtain a college degree in the field of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science/Design Formulation, or a related field. + Available full-time in person commitment (Monday through Friday) from May 19th through August 8th + Ability to follow safety procedures + Basic laboratory skills + Ability to maintain confidentiality + Excellent communication and analytical skills + Proficient in Microsoft Office + Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task + Effective time-management abilities + Ability to positively present our company What do we offer?
