Cost Accountant
Overview Responsible for all cost accounting issues, accounts receivable forecasting and analysis, review of actuals versus budgets for Program. Responsible for various financial accounting related activities. This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Responsibilities Maintain filing of monthly journal vouchers, analysis. Month end closing reports, invoices, bi-weekly CORL reporting. Input recurring and non-recurring monthly journal. Enters and proof journal entries in AS400 system in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Assist with keying CPM data entry when required. Prepare supporting documentation for Labor & CAP/CAS for invoices to the USG on a monthly basis. Assist with daily filing and data entries. Assist in continuous improvement projects which may involve implementing a new policy, process, or system. Assist with insuring Cost Accounting Standards and Sarbanes-Oxley Act guidelines are adhered to. Maintain analyses and reconciliations of fringe costs and allocations. Assist with research and correction of varied issues in JAMIS and Infinium. Utilize research techniques requiring knowledge of payroll processes, cost, allocations, burdens, control files, organizational setup, interfaces with Infinium HR and AP, reporting tools, account structures, job number structures, contracts, revenue calculations, billing calculations, and branch office consolidation. Responsible for all programs Purchase Request (PR) coding included charge codes and cost elements/ Support DCAA and financial audit requirements. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with related majors. Experience Three (3) years' of related accounting experience; government accounting experience desired. Ability to use automated systems and PCs required. Excel -Intermediate to Advanced needed. Skills Proficiency with personal computers required, including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint. Outstanding oral and written communications skills required. Other Requirement Work is generally conducted in an office environment. However, duties may occasionally involve working outside with a potential exposure to extreme temperatures. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
