Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing cost accounting activities, preparing reports, and assisting with budgeting and variance analysis. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in ERP systems, and a solid understanding of GAAP.
ResponsibilitiesManage cost accounting for various accounts and prepare weekly activity reports, including work order variance report, PPV report, and scrap tracking report.Review work order closures, analyze variances, and collaborate with the Operations team to resolve significant discrepancies.Analyze cost center expenses compared to the budget throughout the month and record correcting journal entries when necessary.Assist in analyzing monthly and quarterly product costing results and variances.Create weekly high-level Manufacturing P&L 'flash reports' for Operations Sr Staff.Prepare journal entries and inventory account reconciliations.Participate in the annual cost roll process, including working with the Supply Chain team on material costs and running several cost simulations within the ERP system prior to the annual roll.Assist with special projects as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Minimum of two years of experience in cost accounting or related fields.Experience with product cost/cost accounting, general accounting, and budgeting activities.Solid working knowledge of financial concepts, theory, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).Experience with large enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP.Advanced knowledge of Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Demonstrated attention to detail.Ability to provide accurate and meaningful data.Ability to research GL account activity.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsCost accounting certification is a plus.Experience in manufacturing environments is advantageous.Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, requiring the use of advanced technologies such as ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite. The role typically involves standard working hours, with occasional overtime required to meet reporting deadlines. The dress code is business casual.
