Cost Accountant

Cleaver Brooks is looking for a Cost Accountant to join our team in Monroe, WI. The Cost Accountant rovides accounting and financial support and leadership for the Monroe facility. This includes understanding and reporting on cost analysis, cost control systems, accounting issues, internal reporting, preparation and recording of journal entries, preparation of monthly account reconciliations, and other similar activities or ad hoc requests.  This individual must be a strong accountant who is detail oriented and has solid analytical skills and abilities.

Job Location: Monroe, WI

Essential functions:

Reporting to Plant Controller. Provide proper level of customer service to the rest of the organization. Take ownership of costing processes and ensure accuracy, understanding, consistency with Company policy, consistency of application and compliance with GAAP. Establish and build effective and productive relationships with operations, finance and other departments. Perform month, quarter and year end close processes, meeting deadlines. Book journal entries and provide appropriate detail level review and analysis.  Verify appropriate reporting is correct and accurate. Prepare monthly account reconciliations as assigned. Identify and validate reconciliation balance drivers. Consolidates and analyzes all cost accounting procedures together with other internal reports. Perform monthly financial variance analysis, including research, documentation and communication of account fluctuations. Support Plant Controller in ensuring audit requests are provided timely, quarterly and annual statements are accurate and timely and proposed adjustments are minimalized. Analyze product margin performance and make recommendations for future consideration. Help develop and analyze components of forecasts and budgets as required. Ensure company projects are accomplished in efficient and cost-effective manners. Assists in preparation of capital requests and ROI analysis. Other costing, analysis and projects as assigned by members of management. Other duties as directed.

Basic Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.

Experience: 

2+ years of progressive accounting experience, with manufacturing preferred. Previous experience with performing account reconciliations and booking journal entries required, and previous costing experience preferred.

Physical Skill and Effort: Work requires a few simple, but rapid hand operations. Work requires simple, easy muscular movements.

Working Conditions and Hazards: Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions.
