Cost Accountant Department: TGMO Accounting and Finance - 8060 Location: Perryville , MO START YOUR APPLICATION (https://apply.hrmdirect.com/resumedirect/ApplyOnline/Apply.aspx?req\_id=3315656&source=3315656-CJB-0) SUMMARY Provides management with many cost reports including profit breakdowns by manager/product line/division. Creates and maintains product costs by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Role priorities include: Cost accounting, process improvement and problem resolution. Conducts studies which provide detailed information not supplied by general accounting systems to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, labor, etc. Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, rate schedules or services provided to determine effects on costs. Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services. Establishes product costs using standards from process plans. Prepares profitability breakdowns by manager/product line/customer. Maintains the standard cost system which includes updating standards. Assists other departments in maintaining records on inventory, production, and rejects. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. TECHNICAL SKILLS Technical skills in account reconciliation, cost analysis and month-end close responsibilities, etc. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS CPA recommended, but not required. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Must have 3-5 years experience in cost accounting. Needs excellent communication skills to work with departments in cost management activities. Requires in-depth knowledge of PC's to provide reports (including all types of chart and graphs). Requires good analytical skills and problem solving skills.
