Your Role & Team in a Nutshell

As a Cost Controller at our Spontex factory in Malgrat de Mar, you will be responsible for managing financial operations and monitoring costs of a facility that employs approximately 95 full-time employees (FTE) and boasts a picturesque view of the seaside.

You will concentrate on budgeting, cost analysis, and inventory control. You will ensure adherence to financial procedures, collaborate on month-end closures, and contribute to financial planning. Your role will include managing ERP system data and supporting continuous improvement initiatives, whilst ensuring compliance with accounting standards and audit requirements. Collaborating with senior management, you will help maintain the organisation’s financial stability and profitability.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Cost controlling:

Analyse the deviations of actual cost versus standard cost (materials, labour, energy, overheads).

Analyse cost reports, track expenditures, and identify areas where costs can be reduced or optimised.

Help maintain financial discipline by monitoring spending through accounting systems.

Prepare the month-end closing and the plant reporting, including budget reports and cost analysis summaries.

Monitor and control expenses to ensure they stay within budget and meet financial objectives.

Supervise and control the inventories of goods and materials.

Supervise the accounting allocation of costs. Check purchase orders and Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI).

Prepare, manage, and contribute to all aspects of financial budgeting and forecasting for the plant.

Collaborate with corporate finance teams to provide accurate and timely financial data and support ad-hoc reporting requests.

Prepare insightful financial reports, including cost reconciliations, to enhance management’s understanding of plant performance. These reports assist decision-makers in making informed choices and adjusting strategies as needed.

Manage new products from the perspectives of standard cost calculation and material master data management.

ERP and Digital:

Manage Material Master Data: Ensure the reliability and updating of SAP data regarding raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products.

Manage the Power BI dashboards on Production, Deliveries, and Sales.

Provide operational support on SAP to other departments (purchasing, outbound logistics, production planning).

Continuous improvement:

Support continuous improvement initiatives from a financial perspective.

Be a system owner and participate actively in the continuous improvement programme.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and the requirements of public authorities.

Act as the plant contact for internal, tax, and external audits.

 

 

What You’ll Need

Minimum:

University degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration

Proven experience as a Plant Controller or Cost Controller or similar in a manufacturing environment

Fluent in Spanish & advanced English (written & spoken)

Good command of MS Office, incl. advanced Excel skills

Knowledge of SAP, PowerBI or similar software
