COTI Peer Advocate - Monroe County Rochester, NY (Onsite) Full-Time $18.00 - $19.50/Hour Apply Now (https://flacra.jobs.net/apply/jqs49367bst73wbd9kn?ipath=CR¬ify=true&siteid=cbnsv) Job Details Job Title: COTI Recovery Peer Advocate Location: Finger Lakes Region, NY Employment Type: Full-Time & Per Diem Job Summary: FLACRA is seeking a compassionate COTI Recovery Peer Advocate to provide mobile, on-site, or in-community peer support services to children, adults, and families who are experiencing or have recently experienced a behavioral health crisis. The Crisis Recovery Peer Advocate plays a critical role in assisting individuals as they navigate their recovery, offering advocacy, empowerment, and non-clinical crisis support. This position focuses on helping individuals stabilize and access community resources, while also modeling recovery based on personal experience. Must Have Qualifications: + Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent + Valid NYS Drivers’ License + Lived experience - your own struggles or have supported / cared for someone facing mental health or substance recovery challenges + Willing to participate in peer certification training, acquiring CRPA-P no later than 4 months after employment. Nice to Have Qualifications : + Certified Peer Support Specialist (NYCPS) trained by OMH or OASAS + Certified Peer Advocate (CRPA) Compensation: Our pay structure includes the following components: + Hourly Base Pay : $19.00 - $21 an hour. + Community Crisis Stipend : In addition to your base pay, you will receive a stipend for handling community crisis situations. This stipend recognizes the critical role you play in providing immediate support during urgent circumstances. + Shift Differential : Additional compensation may apply for evening shifts. Job Requirements: Key Responsibilities: + Greet and orient individuals as they arrive at the center, offering a welcoming and supportive presence. + Advocate for and support individuals and families by helping them understand available services. + Share your own recovery journey to promote understanding, teach coping strategies, and empower individuals through self-help techniques. + Collaborate with the treatment team and other involved parties throughout the crisis stabilization process. + Assist with discharge planning, connecting individuals to resources and identifying in-community support systems. + Work with families on developing parenting skills, building empowerment, and strengthening natural and community supports. + Provide referrals for ongoing peer support to individuals and families. + Attend monthly group supervision sessions with the peer supervisor. + Deliver peer support services throughout the crisis treatment episode, including outreach within 24 hours of transitioning from crisis care. + Utilize engagement strategies to connect individuals with community resources and services. + Assist in the development of service plans, WRAP plans, and crisis plans. + Actively participate as a member of the interdisciplinary care team, including attendance at team meetings. + Provide case management, resourcing, and service collaboration to support the individual’s needs. + Maintain accurate and timely documentation. + Help raise community awareness of available services. + Stay current on peer certification and continuing education requirements. + Tier 2 staff are expected to model leadership and mentor Tier 1 peers. + Perform other duties as assigned. Skills & Experience: + High School Diploma or GED. + 18 years of age or older. + Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. + Knowledge of the population group and recovery principles/philosophy. + Ability to multitask, remain calm in a crisis, and demonstrate good problem-solving and time management skills. + Must possess a valid NYS Driver’s License. + Reliable transportation to provide services in the community. + Comfort with providing community-based services to those in need. Lived Experience Requirement: This position requires lived experience in mental health or substance use recovery. You will use your personal recovery journey to guide, support, and inspire others on their path to wellness.
