Job Summary

 

The Counsel will be a key member of the Company’s Legal Department providing strategic guidance on privacy matters and employment disputes to all business units.  This position will report to the Senior Counsel, Litigation and Compliance. 

 

Your Role & Responsibilities  

 

Demonstrate customer service focus by building sustainable relationships with internal and external customers through proactive and interactive communication. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Manage all company litigation in California, including PAGA and wage and hour disputes. Provide legal counsel on compliance with California labor laws. Advise on the application of policies, procedures, laws, and regulations to specific factual situations. Work with Employbridge's human resources department and business units on strategies to manage risk around employment matters, including discipline, terminations, harassment, discrimination and wage and hour compliance. Conduct ongoing reviews, development of, and ensure compliance with, Employbridge's employment policies. Manage Employbridge's responses to state and federal fair employment practice claims, including EEOC and DOL claims. Demonstrate ability to analyze and interpret state and federal regulations and contract requirements and disseminate information in a comprehensible form to clients. Oversee and manage litigation related to Employbridge's employment and labor practices. Handle other in-house counsel-related matters.

 

Preferred Education & Experience  

 

Law degree with admission to the State Bar of California, plus 5 or more years related experience.

 

Competencies (Skills & Knowledge You’ll Bring)   Have a relentlessly strategic and practical approach to lawyering – the big picture is never far from your mind. In depth knowledge of federal and California employment laws and regulations, including Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, EEO laws, PAGA, wage and hour and other federal, state and local laws affecting the employer-employee relationship. Skilled at identifying, understanding, and managing legal and regulatory risks related to our business. Be excited by challenges and not be fazed by moving quickly. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload, be responsive to client needs, and multi-task in a dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to deliver proactive and practical counseling, training, and support to business and corporate units. Be approachable, responsive, ethical, and kind. Experience in managing outside counsel and developing and implementing successful case strategies.

 

The anticipated annual base salary for this position in the US is $128,000 to $180,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
