The Riot Legal team has the responsibility to constantly provide the highest quality legal services that fully align with Riot’s company mission of putting players first. Figuring out what’s “best for the company” always begins with thinking about what’s “best for players.” Every policy or contract that we draft; every lawsuit that we file or defend against; every letter we send; and all the legal advice that we give to our business partners, must always be done with our players’ interests in mind.

Riot is now creating more content than ever before. In recent years we transformed from a one-game company to a company with multiple games and entertainment properties. We are looking for a Production Counsel who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment. You’ll help bring Riot’s stories and experiences to life by providing expert legal support across content and event production. This role reports to the Director, Legal Counsel and will support teams across Riot’s portfolio on a wide range of production related legal matters, including animation and live action projects, online and live esports events, music initiatives, product launches and marketing events, with the opportunity to grow and evolve depending on your interests and the business’s needs.  You will have a meaningful role on the legal team and the opportunity to develop professionally in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements including writer, producer, director, actor, and other talent agreements; production services agreements; appearance releases; venue and location agreements; distribution agreements; tournament operation and license agreements; music agreements; marketing agreements; ticketing agreements; travel, logistics, and other vendor agreements. Act as the trusted legal advisor on various entertainment products and events, from ideation and development through post-production, distribution, and launch.  Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations. Provide strategic advice to business and production teams about legal risks and compliance requirements. Collaborate with the global Legal team to protect the interests of Riot and its players.  Required Qualifications:  J.D. (or international equivalent) and membership in good standing in at least one state bar 2+ years transactional experience as an attorney at a reputable law firm and/or entertainment/media company  Strong understanding of the entertainment business and production pipelines   Desired Qualifications: Experience in guild and union matters  Experience working at or with a major studio or traditional sports organization Strong background and knowledge of copyright and trademark law Outstanding negotiation skills Ability to work independently and proactively with strong organizational and time-management skills in order to manage multiple projects at once Excellent oral and written communications skills
