GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Murphy USA is seeking a qualified candidate at the Attorney, Counsel, or Senior Counsel level, dependent upon relevant experience. This position will be responsible for providing legal counsel on an expansive range of corporate issues. The role will optimize our organizational strategy through legal activities, review and draft vendor contracts across the enterprise, collaborate with various departments to address legal issues and mitigate risks, manage outside counsel representing Murphy USA in litigation, conduct legal research on relevant legal developments, and assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures. This position is based in El Dorado, Arkansas.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Education: Law degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
• Experience: 2 – 5 years of law firm or in-house experience is preferred, but high-potential entry-level candidates will be considered.
• Work Location: Must work on-site at corporate headquarters in El Dorado from Monday – Thursday. Remote work is currently allowed on Fridays.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong and persuasive advocacy, with an eye toward pragmatic, beneficial outcomes that best represent Murphy USA’s values. A technically proficient transactional attorney and team player who has a passion for understanding the concerns of Murphy USA’s businesses and can effectively communicate with and respond to clients in a timely manner. Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
