As a Counsel at Compass, you work on exciting legal matters that require proactive legal guidance. You're part of a team of in-house lawyers and the projects you work on challenge you to think creatively and constructively. You are energetic and collaborative -- ready to partner in initiatives that influence all aspects of Compass’s business and work with employees and agents across the company. Your contributions will be impactful, value driven and you will play an instrumental role on the Compass Legal team.

At Compass You Will:

Serve as attorney and advisor for Compass real estate compliance initiatives Design best-in-class risk management program that incorporates multi-jurisdictional and interdisciplinary areas of the law, local business practice, innovative training programs and user-friendly resources Provide legal support to sales managers and real estate licensees regarding transactional disputes and issues. Provide legal support to regional leaders and business teams on various new initiatives and day-to-day operations  Advise business teams on legal issues and risks by employing practical business judgment and identifying actual practical risk Analyze the products, features and systems that Compass builds to empower its agents and implement practical, business-minded legal risk mitigation strategies Support the continuous improvement of compliance initiatives, business operations, and policies

What We Look For:

Strong academic credentials including a JD and membership in good standing in at least one state bar (NY bar a plus) 5+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm or corporation, preferably in litigation and/or corporate compliance  Detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple projects under deadline pressure  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to distill complex legal issues A team player and consensus builder  #collaboratewithoutego A willingness to learn new areas of law, acquire new skills, and take on additional and/or new responsibilities within the team on an “as-needed” basis Confidence operating in a fast-paced environment and knowing when to escalate issues to appropriate stakeholders This role is 100% onsite based out of our San Francisco offices

Compensation: 

The base pay range for this position is $157,700-$190,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
